Last night we had not quite this much water and today well have this this much and tonight well have a lot. Tonight the cars out back have to get moved. West 18th street typically floods and this was stepping through the water to move out the garbage. Some contractors called it a day because of the weather. Im working 40 feet in the air and the wind is so bad and im putting on metal panels the just not safe to work. This is what it did off north 5th street. Erosion was predicted and not a surprise when you look at the intensity of the waves pounding the shore. Amazing is a good word for it. More than one person has said these are the biggest wave they have seen in years, and the beaches are paying a price and the erosion is substantial and the folks out here watching the ocean city music pier and well have more flooding tonight. As we get high tide but we are glad that jose is month ago way. We are glad he is going. Nora muchanic, channel 6 action news. All right thank you. Mobi mobile 6 is on the move in ocean city on southwest avenue. This is playing out street side the a road by road block by block situation. If you have to travel night be advised not to drive through water you dont know how deep it is. Now we go to wildwood with jeff. Along the shore line. Reporter much like nora the wind is a major factor here. Look at these waves a huge draw for people. As high tide comes its likely to do worse and more damage to the beach. A cliff has formed there in the beach as erosion and flooding is a major problem in North Wildwood. Hundreds of miles away jose put on a show for those gathered. And water was sent crashing on rocks normally at low tide. I only remember one time it was this rough. These photos during high tide shows waves breaching the sea wall. Forcing police to close the pavilion for fear of collapse. Yesterday we had heavy equipment on the beach and trying to get some sand buildup on our dunes and now almost at low tide. The ocean has not receded much. There is little we can do at this point except make sure people stay out of harms way. And on Delaware Avenue there is concerns that the high tide this evening will be worse. They have high rescue vehicles ready to roll in case of emergencies and reads near the back bay is taking precautions and moving vehicles to high grounds. What about your corvette. That will be if pennsylvania in about an hour. We are getting out of done. The North Wildwood mayor says it could be worse if jose took a different path. When flooding goes to eight feet that could be two feet of water in the street any given time. Unless the electricity goes out folks are used to that, we dont anticipate a need to evacuate. Reporter well, police are keeping an eye on the folks here, police are stationed here at 12nd and jfk drive throughout of afternoon keeping people away from the rocks and water and rip currents are a threat here along the coast. Channel 6 action news. All right a sight to see. Safety first though. Thank you. The shore has seen most of the impact from hurricane jose, it could get worse this evening when we hit high tide. Lets check in with adam joseph with the latest from accuweather. The waves have really caused all the damage down there when you talk about erosion. And the wave heights, in fact where the center of the storm is, close to 250 miles two our east. Waves there are 26 feet but still impressive near 11 feet just off the jersey as well as the delaware coastline. Folks say this is much like a noreaster down the shore. The north wind over the open bay, the delaware there gusting to about 45 Miles Per Hour. As we take a look this evening of concern, for the tide is between 7 30 and 8 30, the next round of high tide and expected to be moderate and this morning it was minor. This is the highest of all tides. And 8 to 10 foot breakers and on the bays and the delaware bay on the jersey side and the delaware side. And by tomorrow morning that risk goes back to minor. The heaviest rain and wind is well off the coast by hundreds of miles and stays there near the center and we see a couple of showers pivoting in from philadelphia to the southeast. That is the worst it gets in the inland locations while north and west seeing sunshine this afternoon. Well have more on this as well as maria coming up in the full accuweather forecast. More on maria now actually we are keeping a close eye on maria as it moves over puerto rico. It crashed into dominica where the Prime Minister is putting out an emotional call for help.
