The sculpture is part of the project produced by arts philadelphia that brings temporary art installations in ten locations but the question is what is the appropriate monument forever the current city of of philadelphia. Its art not controversial. I love it. This one is, in my mind, specifically targeted towards one particular group of people. The pick is placed in eyesight of the statue of former mayor, frank rizzo a topic of heated debate with calls of taking it down. I think it should be there because of what they did to his statue and now saying power to all people not just one race. In light of the rizzo statue which i think should come down. I think it has a legacy of Police Brutality and White Supremacy and home phobia, power to all people should make everyone feel comfortable. Some are still talking about the fate of the rizzo statue. I dont see where one has anything to do with the other. Keep in mind this is part of a larger project that begins on saturday.
