Reporter good morning, tam, thats right, there were two separate policeinvolved shootings. Police were forced to shoot after the suspects wouldnt drop their weapons. There was a running gun battle. Reporter bullets flew in germantown last night as police say they were forced to fire on a man who turned his gun on officers. Just before 9 00 p. M. 14 District Police were called out to a report of a man with a gun. They told the 20yearold suspect to drop his weapon, but he refuse and started running away. While he was running he turned around and started firing shots toward the police. Reporter police returned fire. Police say the suspect continued to fire shots at officers as they chased him. The they apprehended the suspect in the back driveway. Police say he was carrying a gun. The weapon recovered was a semi automatic weapon with the slide locked back to the rear which is an indication that the weapon was fired until it was empty. A second automatic weapon was recovered. Reporter that was the Second Police involved shooting in philadelphia yesterday. 14 hours prior in west philadelphia, police shot a robbery suspect in the stomach who they say was trying to ambush the officer chasing. That suspect is in critical condition. His nine millimeter was loaded with 6 live rounds. No officers were injured in either of these shootings.
