As you look at satellite6 and action radar you can kind of see that the showers moved through our northwest suburbs. Theyve moved through philadelphia. Theyre now along the coastline and we do have lots of cloud cover through the region but everything really changes for us this afternoon. Its 75 degrees right now in philadelphia. 66 in allentown, much mover comfortable there. 67 in reading, 69 in wilmington, 73 in millville and 74 degrees in trenton. Look at the dewpoints. Weve dropped just a little bit already in philadelphia but still very humid at 69 degrees. It feels better in the northwest. The real humidity at this point is east of the city of philadelphia. Thats where its really worse where you have dewpoints into the 70s making it feel oppressive. So today is a day of change. Starting it off with clouds, lots of humidity, some showers along the coastline. The afternoon is turning less humid bright with sunshine and clouds and warm. So, by 9 00 a. M. , 79, by noon 85, by the lunchtime hour feels less humid in the city. By 3 00 p. M. , 86 degrees with sunshine and clouds feeling just right. By 6 00 p. M. , 83 degrees. Im going to show you what future tracker6 looks like and you can see when these clouds start to break and humidity Tropical Storm and well have that in just a minute. Matt. The future is looking kind of dim for people trying to get to the airport this morning, karen, for an on time departure weve got problems here on 95. Northbound side by ridley park its a multi vehicle accident taking out all lanes except the right shoulder. Traffic squeezing by on that right shoulder. As you can see there are the vehicles involved. Weve got fire crews and ambulance on the scene. Those three vehicles just one into the other and a lot of Police Officers are out here as well helping direct that traffic thats using that northbound right shoulder but northbound is at a standstill from just past the Commodore Barry bridge up to that accident scene at ridley park, just 8 Miles Per Hour. You really need to think alternates this morning like 291 industrial highway. If you want to travel up to the blue route you could hop on that northbound to macdade boulevard. Run that to 420 and then if you get back on 95 northbound from 420 youre going to be past the accident scene headed towards the airport but its definitely something were watching, well keep watching on this tuesday. This is neiffer in the great northeast, just a little building southbound traffic entering the work zone at cottman avenue. Traveling west on the vine street expressway some brake tapping from time to time approaching the schuylkill at the moment doesnt look too bad. In Wall Township watch out for a crash on the garden state parkway northbound past 195. They just got that pushed off to the shoulder but it was a pretty serious accident. And our overnight work zones are clearing out but theres still one in trenton in the northbound lanes of 29 past 129. Thats going through this afternoon. And dont forget the west trenton Regional Rail line is still shuttle busing today between woodbourne and west trenton for the ongoing signal work. Matt. Lets talk about the sinkhole, matt. Its developing right now. A gaping hole remains opened where it should not be in philadelphias kensington section. Crews have been working all night to repair the damage. Lets get an update from action News ReporterKatherine Scott who is live on the scene at tulip and huntingdon streets. Katherine. Reporter matt, you can see theres a big sinkhole right at this intersection here. Crews have been on the scene throughout the night. They have been making progress, but these repairs, theres still quite a lot to do here at this intersection in kensington. Crews from philadelphia gas works and the Water Department have been here. Pgw is here because they have a gas line that runs underneath the road and they have been sweeping up the roadway trying to clear at least some of the way here. Hopefully opening part of this road perhaps later on but theyre not quite there yet. Theres still quite a lot to do. The Fire Department was called in around 3 oclock yesterday for the water main break here at tulip and huntingdon. Thats when they found the sinkhole which was expanding. Crews have been working all night to et cetera good it fixed. Theres no word on what caused the water main break. There was no disruption to gas and Water Service in the area. Obviously traffic is still being detoured around this intersection and a few nearby streets have been closed because of vehicles and all the equipment they need to make these repairs. They have been making progress. They seemed to have narrowed the area around this sinkhole. They have put blockades around it. It looks like in a little while they might be able to open at least some of the street but not right now. Theres still detours right now in the area. Philadelphia police are looking for the gunman who shot three people in kensington. The shooter unleashed a barrage of bullets on a street where children were playing just before dinner. Williams sawitnesses the say thr man fired off shots from the sunroof of a golden minivan on boudinot street. Based on ballistic evidence, we know that at least nine shots were fired from two separate caliber semiautomatic weapons. Police say they have not found that weapon. All the victims are expected to live. Investigators think the shooting is connected to another shooting that happened on that same block a day earlier. Federal authorities are joining the search for a bank bandit in the city. The fbi along with Philadelphia Police issued these photos showing their suspect. They say he robbed a Wells Fargo Bank at 21st and market streets in Center City Just before 1 30 yesterday afternoon. Happening today, a judge could decide the future funding for special education in Delaware County. Hundreds of people came out to show their support for the chesterupland school district. If you want to exit at 320, you can take that up to 22nd street, around 22nd street it turns into macdade boulevard. Or stay on the south side along 291 industrial highway thats also fine to get you towards the airport this morning. Were watching that situation. Also watching a new vehicle fire. If youre traveling on the a. C. Expressway eastbound by winslow that exit ramp is shut down because of the vehicle fire. New on action news Authorities Say two men tried to use a drone to smuggle synthetic marijuana, guns and porn into a state prison near cumberland, maryland. Two men were arrested in a failed plot to deliver the contraband. Authorities say they found the drone and the items inside the mens car which was pulled over outside the prison fence. They believe they were trying to get all that stuff to a prisoner who was allowed to go outside the fencedin area. That prisoner will also be charged. The story is blowing up social media. Nearly a dozen women who were booted off one of napa valleys most popular attractions are claiming their ejection was racially motivated. They are still partially blocking the right lane now because the cars are off on the right shoulder and theres still a little bit of sands here in these northbound lanes from the fluids that spilled out of the vehicles involved in the crash but three northbound lanes now getting by as you come away from the blue route and head up toward the airport but still were looking at big delays this morning, speeds like six, just 6 Miles Per Hour. Thats not a good thing as you come north of 322 through that accident scene at ridley park. If youre headed out in the next 20 minutes or so and youre trying get to the airport maybe, you still want to stick with maybe 291 industrial highway, stay up on 13 or even macdade boulevard up to 420 as possible alternates. If youre not headed out until 7 00 or so you might be okay on 95 northbound, still some slowing but i expect these delays to get a little less severe now that they have several lanes opened there on 95 northbound. This is 95 southbound in the great northeast. A little sluggish here by cottman. Heavier delays kick in from south of the betsy ross bridge into girard. Weve had really heavy delays this morning here on the schuylkill expressway eastbound but theyre starting to break up because our debris eastbound approaching the blue route is now gone. So, all lanes opened there and improving situation on the schuylkill but we still have a vehicle fire blocking the ramp from the a. C. Expressway eastbound to winslow. If thats your ramp, use the ramp at williamstown instead but the main lanes of the a. C. Expressway are moving okay on this tuesday morning. Matt. Thanks, matt. Breaking news. The official word for the coast guard is that the bermuda islander is still stuck. Chopper six is live over this 100meter cargo ship that travels between salem county, new jersey, and bermuda. At some point this morning when it reached the area around the salem river where it feeds into the Delaware River it hit some Shallow Water and couldnt move anymore. It looked like it might have been moving a little bit here or there but basically the coast guard says its not going to even go out there and try and push it out until high tide reaches this area of the Delaware River which would be at about 8 30 this morning. So, for now the bermuda islander is not moving anywhere. It is stuck in the Delaware River. Water and gas utility crews have been working through the night to fix a large sinkhole in the citys kensington section. Reporter matt, they have been making progress but theres still a bit of work left to do. They have cleared out for the time being but you can see theyve significantly narrowed this work site here so just in the last few minutes traffic has started getting by on huntingdon street, tulip remains closed and there is a lot to do there, extensive repairs to be made. Crews from philadelphia gas works and the Water Department were on scene all night long. This hole opened yesterday afternoon. The Fire Department was called around 3 oclock yesterday for a water main break at tulip and huntingdon here in kensington. Thats when they discovered the sinkhole and it just kept getting bigger. Pgw is here because they have a gas line thats beneath the road. Pgw says their service has not been disrupted. Water service were you not disrupted either. Neighbors around here say that yesterday this was just a small hole and then they just watched it get bigger and bigger. In the middle of the day it was about the size of a small hole and water was shooting out. My family went down for a nap and we heard everybody yelling outside and by the time we woke up the whole street was caved in. It was crazy. Thanks so much katherine. Breaking right now, a fast moving fire damaged a house in upper merion Montgomery County. Flames broke out around 4 45 this morning on the 500 block of dartmouth drive. Police on routine patrol spotted the fire and called the Fire Department. When crews arrived, the fire was showing in the second floor of the Single Family house. Initial reports say everyone got out safely. Crews say theyre making Good Progress on the fire. Race car driver Justin Wilson has died at Lehigh Valley hospital in allentown. He was involved in a freak accident at pocono race way on sunday. A large piece of debris flew off at race car that crashed into a wall. The debris struck wilson in the head and then his car also hit the wall. Indy car announced his death last night. Justins elite able to drive a race car was matched by his unwaving kindness, character and humility which made him one of the most respected members of the paddock.
