Meanwhile the calls for her resignation continues to mount today. Though she says she will not step aside. The new jersey turnpike is back opened just in time for the friday rush hour. This was the scene from chopper six around 12 30 this afternoon when crews had it shut down between exits three and four in cherry hill. Officials say a contractor hit a pse g gas line causeing a leak. A company directly across the street was evacuated but no injuries were reported. Now that we have some specific ideas of the traffic impact of the popes visit to philadelphia next month some of the western suburbs are beginning to get ready for crowds theyre not used to seeing and that means a lost logistics and planning. Action News Reporter david henry live at the radnor train station in wayne and david youve got the story. Reporter yeah, brian were actually in radnor and this is one of the two train stations in the western suburbs that will be used for those people heading down see the pope, the other one is in paoli and theyre expecting 10,000 people a day coming and going from both of those stations which is going to put a lot of pressure on the local communities. Its going to take much more time to get from point a to point b within the township. Reporter radnor township will be opening its Emergency Operations center and it will be all handson deck for the Police Department. The township has two transit stations that will be used for express rail service to the city. The radnor Regional Rail station and the norristown high speedline station at villanova university. Traffic and parking will be the two main issues. Villanova is canceling classes on friday the 25th and saturday the 26th. That will open up a huge parking lot along lancaster avenue. The police say theyll be ready. We know traffic management, we know how to move traffic so were going to be challenged on this but all our officers are ready and theyll rise to that challenge. Reporter that said theyre urging residents and visitors to be patient. Same thing goes for the paoli area. Significant parking restrictions where its a fairly dense area and the number of vehicles coming in its going to be tough. Reporter theres less parking available near the Paoli Station and Tredyffrin Police are still working out the logistics. They would like everyone to hitch a ride to the station, if they can. Were asking folks to consider dropping people off dropping riders off day of and well have a pattern set up where they can very systemically come in drop someone off and be on their way. Reporter in radnor and paoli Emergency Services will be on hand and food and water will be available. Mer chan in the paoli area will be heavily impacted by the congestion, some worry about the parking others welcome the chance for new customers. Theres a little concern absolutely is but i just got word of all the extra communication and the things are going to be taking place during that week and so i definitely feel much better. You could see the cooler numbers with that northeasterly easterly wind, clouds at the shore especially in Cape May County and the beaches in delaware. Only 75 degrees there. The rain has finally pushed off the coast and were in the low 80s to the north and west. You could see satellite and radar all the clouds in southern new jersey and delaware today and the rain as well but finally were starting to brighten things up from Atlantic City to the north while the rest of us saw that sunshine through much of the day. A woman sitting on her front step was ambushed by two men with a gun on the 1100 block of south 46th street. They took her cell phone and ran off. After that video aired Police Received a tip that that led them to 19yearold thompson rahidi. A swat unit arrested him days later on charges of robbery and aggravated assault. Schuylkill expressway, these are the eastbound lanes. You can see virtually at a stop right now. We do have a tractortrailer off to the righthand side. There was a small accident there but its pushed off to the shoulder. You can see big delays, taking about 44 minute to go from the blue route to the vine right now, about 40 minutes in the reverse. Taking a look at the big picture, speeds in the teens 10 miles an hour on 95. The blue route and those southbound lanes from the schuylkill down to 95, again very slow going there as well. Were waiting for the tacony palmyra bridge to open. So, expect delays on that bridge. Taking a look at another bridge out there, the ben franklin bridge, you can see in the eastbound lanes if youre heading into new jersey, youll have a slow go of it. Not looking too bad right now on those westbound lanes and other area bridges very slow as you can expect at this hour the walt whitman bridge seeing lots of delays in both directions. And taking a look at the 42 freeway, you can see if youre heading down to the shore right now, taking you about 17 minutes to go from the walt whitman bridge down to the Atlantic City expressway. Officials say the manufacturer is working on a temporary solution as of right now. The problem is only affecting older cars many of which are in the process of being overhauled. Passengers on board a delta operated sky west plane had a dramatic experience this morning before their flight even took off. Flames shot out of the back of the jet as it sat on the tarmac. An airport spokeswoman says fire started right when the engines turned on. The plane came back to the gate and all the passengers got off safely. Delta says there was likely extra fuel in the tail pipe that ignited into a sudden flame. The National Weather Service Confirms a tornado touched down ripping the roof off a walmart in alabama. Six people were hurt when the Severe Weather hit last night. The mayor says it caused significant damage and also tore out a wall of the nearby Sporting Goods store. He says none of the injuries were lifethreatening. Back here at home really largely a Beautiful Day out there. Most of us saw that sunshine today. The shore communities as you can see, the clouds still hanging on on cape main you can see the shore line there and not a lot of people. Theres a few out there and some choppy waters with that wind coming in out of the northeast. In fact, we take a look at those winds driving in off the atlantic near 13 miles an hour on the boardwalk, nine in Sea Isle City, dover 14 miles an hour and as high as 13 in philadelphia. So, with those winds coming in off of the water in addition to the clouds down the shore and rain through much of the day, temperature in cape may is just 76 degrees but sun is now breaking back out from Atlantic City to beach haven bumping those temperatures into the lower 80s. Philadelphia 87 and north and west of town temperatures there in the low 80s. We look at satellite and radar that low pressure that pushed to the south did bring rain through much of the Morning Hours for the beaches in delaware for most of the shore communities but again that rain is now moving off the coast. Clouds are starting to break apart down there while inland locates saw a decent amount of sunshine from the very start this morning. Overnight tonight pretty pleasant in allentown 59 degrees. 60 in reading. 64 millville. 67 in dover. Mostly clear overnight breezy especially at the shore as that low continues to wind up off the coast. In addition to that overnight and tomorrow morning there still could be lingering clouds at the shore first thing tomorrow morning. But knowles the bright sunshine. No clouds whatsoever on future track erin land. As we get into the afternoon tomorrow, lots of sunshine, a few high clouds in the Lehigh Valley for musikfest and some high clouds at the shore but definitely a much better day if you are shore bound for the upcoming weekend. Speaking of the weekend tomorrow in the city, mostly sunny, warm, 87 degrees and still low humidity. At the shore very breezy but sun and clouds and watch for some dangerous rip currents tomorrow 77 degrees. Definitely want to swim where the lifeguards are on duty and in its sunny and nice in the poconos, 77 degrees and speaking of the shore again rip currents is a risk but youre going to want to hit the water because the temperatures are near 70s degrees right now off of ocean city, Sea Isle City and in the bay of delaware, temperatures right around 74. The four day at 4 00 forecast will show that its a lot of sun here tomorrow, 87 and we mimic that number with still a lost sun and some high clouds on sunday of that 87 degrees and then things start to change late monday, clouds arrive maybe a downpour or a thunderstorm as a cold front approaches but the most active day looks to be tuesday with the humidity at 84 and numerous downpours and thunderstorms around but for now the weekend is looking great and changes come Perfect Timing when most of us are back at work on monday and tuesday. All right, adam thanks very much. We have just been handed breaking news here and it is in connection to that colorado Movie Theater shooting. We have just learned that james holmes the jury there has reached a decision as to whether james holmes should live or die. This was a penalty phase of the trial. The jury apparently deliberating for only about six and a half hours before reaching a conclusion. It it has not yet been announced but we expect that the jury will read that decision in the next couple of hours. Of course we will bring that to you as soon as we get it but again, a decision in the penalty phase of the james holmes colorado Movie Theater shooting he killed 12 people, injured 70 others in that shooting in suburban denver, colorado. More on that as it develops. From the meantime a look at the closing numbers on wall street today and red arrows round out the week. The dow down 46 points to close at 17,373. Police say Moses Mcmillan eventually succumbed to wounds of the chest and abdomen. A number of neighbors told me they saw teenagers mostly girls involved in some kind of ruckus in the middle of the block. Then heard gunfire. Setting the alarm going upstairs and i hear gunfire and i come back to the door, i see kids running laughing, as though it was a joke and i hear a kid out here screaming. Reporter mcmillans mother has told me her son was mortally wounded as he was defending his sister from a gang of girls in an ongoing dispute. The all female bunch had been at the house earlier and then returned with at least one male who was wielding a handgun and who Police Believe was the trigger man. Tit at thisman. Only action news was there as the bicycle of an 11yearold boy found dead in the darby creek this week was into the Folcroft Police station as evidence. Laquan lattimores body was recovered earlier this week but the childs bicycle wasnt found until today. Police recovered it in glenolden borough after getting a tip. They also found his backpack and clothes today. Lattimore went missing on monday. Police say the child drowned and they dont believe there was any foul play. Philadelphia police are looking for two men accused of carrying out a violent Home Invasion robbery in south philadelphia and weve got brand new details today on the investigation. Investigators say two armed men got into a house along the 2400 block of South Sheridan through the window about 4 30 this morning. One of the suspects immediately fired a shot into the living room while the other punched a 59yearold woman in the face. The men then stole a lockbox containing a thousand dollars in cash and 4,000 worth of winning lottery tickets. Fortunately police say neither homeowner was seriously hurt. Weve got new video from inside a Center City Restaurant showing two men stealing a womans purse from the back of her chair. The customer is sitting at the bar at the establishment on south 15th street july 28. She didnt notice her bag was gone until the guys were gone with it. Police say these two men started using her credit card within 30 minutes of leaving that restaurant. If you recognize either of the suspects please contact Philadelphia Police. High levels of Carbon Monoxide forced evacuations at an assisted living facility in hockessin delaware. It happened at 8 30 this morning at the assisted living facility on the 700 block of loveville road. Firefighters say the problem was caused by a boiler that backfired. Five residents were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Everyone else was let back into the building at 3 oclock. Some scary moments in the first state when a car ran right into the front door avenue medical office. The car hit the delaware open mri on the 3200 block of concorde pike around 11 00 this morning. No matter how you at the same time your toddler a new study sheds some light on what really works. Some parents choose to love their toddler through it. Others ignore the tantrum and enforce a timeout. This new study finds both approaches are actually right. Researchers from Oklahoma State university interviewed 102 moms who provided detailed descriptions of five times they had to discipline their toddlers for either hitting whining or defines and found in toddlers need both reasoning and punishment to improve their long term behavior. Parents can use it as a teachable moment to show their kids how to problem solve and to teach them how to express themselves. Experts say and parents know it can be overwhelming but go with your gut. Pick your battles and tailor your responses to the severity of your toddlers behavior and then tell them all about it once they grow up and theyre adults. What were seeing here penndot did their best to get the gravel off the side of the road but were 10ing to see a dust storm or a gravel storm, if you will as these vehicles are going by so its making visibility really low as you can see right here. So really slow going there from the pennsylvania turnpike to this point. Almost a 20 minute delay because we were down to one lane. Now the lanes have opened up but as you can see visibility still very low. Taking a look at the big picture speeds across the region nice and slow. 12 Miles Per Hour on 95. Very slow in those southbound lanes of the blue route from the schuylkill expressway down to 95 right now and again the whole stretch of the schuylkill about 10 Miles Per Hour. This is at 420 yes 420 rather and you can see a slow go if youre making your way northbound from the delaware state line really all the way up towards the walt whitman bridge where a lot of people are exiting to make their way over to the shore right now. South and east were still in the 70s and were in the 70s again, that is where were still waiting for the clouds to kind of fall apart here and thats as far west as vineland but to the north a little more sun, browns mills at 86 degrees and hockessin delaware at 84. There you can see those showers that pretty much hovered from Atlantic City right down to Rehoboth Beach right into the early afternoon hours and there you can see that cloud line just north of dover and Atlantic City, to the north of there lots of sun today, right through the Lehigh Valley. Low pressure is off the coast. The rain is moving along with it and the low will be just to our east through much of the upcoming weekend. That will generate some waves all the way from new jersey on Long Beach Island right down to rehoboth. Mostly clear tonight seasonable, 59 in the suburbs 68 degrees for center city.
