A bit humid this morning in some spots, especially the southern half of the region and as we roll through the day it does look like we have a shot at ending our heat wave at eight days. 86 degrees is your noon temperature. By 3 oclock, 89 and if we can keep that number below 90 the heat wave will be over. 85 degrees by 6 oclock. Feeling refreshing out there as you head out on a wednesday morning and all were really watching on the roads is some construction. Northbound side of 95 here by the airport theyre still working on the right side of the roadway but the left lanes are opened so traffic headed towards the girard point in south philadelphia is getting by without any major delay. Other zones on 95 like the northbound one by girard have cleared. Same with the zones on the schuylkill expressway. One other issue out there is the crash in furlong bucks county involving the ups tractortrailer that struck the construction barrier. Hang in the ongoing construction zone. Then the cab of the truck caught on fire so theres also a fuel spill. You want to avoid york road, 263. Thats the bottom line. Use 611 or even 232 as alternates. Still overnight construction in Mercer County in the eastbound lanes of 195 taking out the right lane for the next hour. And in camden county, two separate work zones going for the next hour. One on 295 southbound between the white horse pike and 42. The other on the new jersey turnpike northbound blocking the left lane near exit three. Tam. Okay, thank you, matt. These stories have been developing tonight. 11 families have been displaced after an overnight fire burned through an Apartment Building in berks county overnight. This broke out around 1 30 on community drive. Firefighters now do have that blaze under control. You can see what remains of the charred building and how much damage was done. The fire was contained to only one complex. Luckily there were no reports of injuries. The red cross is on the scene helping people who were displaced. Now to a developing story out of furlong bucks county. Matt was talking about this location. The action cam is live at york and sugar bottom roads where a ups tractortrailer caught fire and hit a concrete Barrier Police are telling us that the fire was contained to the cab of the truck. The fire did not reach the trailer or burn the contents of the truck. Those packages will eventually get where theyre going. Theres also a fuel spill as a result of the crash. The driver was hurt but not seriously. Crews are still there as you can see on the scene cleaning up that that mess. And developing right now the murder of a man on a bike. It happened in the citys wynnefield section. Police say the gunman shot the victim execution style. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott is live along west berks street with the full story. Katherine. Reporter matt police say there are surveillance cameras nearby so theyre hoping theres footage that will help in the search for the gunman. This shooting happened right over there overnight in wynnefield and again, the search continues this morning. Just before Midnight Police were called out to the 5300 block of berk street. A number of 911 calls came in after those shots were fired. When Police Arrived they found the victim on the sidewalk. He has been shot at least once in his head while he was on his bike. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say he had been shot at point blank range. Witnesses say the shooter then got into a dark colored sedan with two other men then fled south on georges plane. They found three spent shell casings near his body. They say a semiautomatic weapon was used, a large caliber. Police want to hear from you if you have any tips so call the homicide division. And police are searching for a man who is expected of breaking into several Storage Units in northeast philadelphia. This is video from chopper six over the Public Storage facility located along the 2700 block of grant avenue. When Police Arrived the suspect injured an officers hand when she was trying to apprehend him. He was then able to drive away in a van. Police thought they were following that van but the van they pulled over ended up not being the one involved. A number of hit and run deaths in philadelphia is outpacing last years rate plus five of the seven victims were children. Hit and run crashes with survivors are also on the rise. Just over the weekend a driver struck fiveyearold karley green in north philadelphia. That driver has not been caught. And an eightyearold was hit just blocks away on monday. Nassim brown was playing with other children in this open fire hide brant drant when the water knocked him to the ground. A black Dodge Charger rolled over him and just kept going. People really need to consider these things and understand were going to get you eventually. Police commissioner ramsey is urging drivers to pay more attention to avoid accidents in the first place. Three people died when the acura wrecked near red lion road. Two people were injured and one of the survivors is the driver who sources say will likely face charges. An unruly and raging wildfire is exploding in size despite the efforts of 3,000 firefighters working to get it under control. Still a little bit humid from about philadelphia to the south but we are seeing drier air inch its way in down from the northwest as we move through the morning and things should feel better as we continue through the day. As we take a look outside we have sky6 and theres the ben franklin not the ben franklin bridge, the battleship new jersey across the river there looking south along the Delaware River and maybe a little bit humid out there but tranquil. Not a lot of motion in the water as winds are fairly light. 62 in reading its in these areas where youre starting to pick up that northwesterly flow and youre seeing those dewpoints and humidity drop. None of that this morning so both lanes opened on the bridge class good thing. But elsewhere in bucks county, we still have the problems in furlong with the accident involving the ups truck that caught fire and the action cam remains on the scene. The truck ran into a construction barrier at about 2 30 this morning and thats when it burst into flames. Fuel spilled out all over the roadway so theres going to be some cleanup involved with this accident thats currently blocking york road which is 263 close to sugar bottom road. So, lets talk alternates for you. You can stay over on 611 easton road as a pretty easy alternate or stay to the east side on 232 but again its 263 york roads you want to avoid. I was telling you to avoid that anyway because of all the ongoing construction in area. Speaking of construction have some on the pennsylvania turnpike this morning at the Fort Washington interchange. Not a big deal there and better news, much better news than last night on the eastbound side between willow grove and bensalem all the lanes are opened. But watch out for work in somers point along the southbound garden state parkway near the great egg tolls. Theyre taking out the right lane until 7 oclock. New on action news, a taco bell employee in iowa is accused of using the fast food joint to cook up meth. Police were called to the restaurant yesterday for the report of a suspicious person there. They arrived and found two men one was an employee. A century sealed evidence of a meth lab in the taco bell. Police arrested both men. The restaurants was temporarily closed because they have toxic materials in there. Taco bell has fired the employee. The family of a woman found dead in a texas jail cell is suing the trooper who arrested her. Authorities say sandra bland hanged herself three days after being taken into custody during a traffic stop. The trooper who made that arrest is currently on administrative leave. The familys federal wrongful death lawsuit also names the Waller County Sheriffs Office and the Texas Department of safety. Boston mayor martin walsh to ban suge tobacco in sports venues across the city. The mayor is expected to discuss a new proposed ordinance today at a city park. Public Health Officials advocates local youth and former red sox pitcher Curt Schilling are expected to attend.
