Extra heavy this afternoon because of that new traffic pattern on the northbound side of 95 in the work zone and girard. Weve been having a tough time getting used to that today and its causing extra heavy delays on northbound 95 that are spilling back onto the eastbound vine that are spilling back onto the schuylkill. As you head towards the schuylkill on the westbound side of 676 you can see theres a crash sticking out into the right lane. Once you get onto 76 westbounds not so bad but eastbound here by Spring Garden you see the heavy delays headed toward the vine street expressway. But positive updates on the ramps here at Spring Garden street. Today they reopened the ramp from Spring Garden to the westbound lanes. Had been closed all last week. And we were hearing they were goesy going to close this ramp from the eastbound schuylkill to Spring Garden round the clock through the middle of next week. Now turns out theyre only going to do that during the overnight hours so thats definitely good news but 9 p. M. To 5 00 a. M. That ramp will be closed. Getting better here on 95 northbound in delco. Down to about app six minute northbound delay which is a lot better than it was earlier. 95 northbound by washington avenue theres a crash on the shoulder and a crash in Deptford Township closing delsea drive this afternoon at essex boulevard. Meteorologist cecily tynan. Some decidedly august type conditions out there. Yes. 92 degrees so far the high in philadelphia. Could hit 90 again tomorrow making that the eighth day of our heat wave but thats it. Working hard. Lets go to where the action cam was. Earlier today really a beautiful shot of the fountain at logan square seeing blue skies and sunshine and yes its definitely hot out there and storm tracker6 live double scan showing that most of our area is rain free but we do have a couple downpours popping up currently in northern berks county right north of 222 near kutztown. You can see how its all moving up to the northwest moving into the lehigh valley. This is ahead of a cold front that will be moving through overnight and tomorrow and what this will do is ends our heat wave but today a full week now of heat wave number three. So far our high in philadelphia 92 degrees. The hottest days the first two days last tuesday and wednesday when we hit 93 degrees but the end is in sight if you dont like the heat. Currently in philadelphia nine were degrees. In trenton, millville and wilmington, 90. Allentown not quite that warm, 86 and avalon with that sea breeze really a lot cooler at the shore with a high a current temperature i should say of 80 degrees but dewpoints show that at the shore although its a lot cooler its also a lot more humid, dewpoints right along the beach with that ocean influence in the 70s. Inland in philadelphia dewpoint not too bad 58 degrees. Most of the region in the low 60s and thats slightly humid. So the humidity is up from over the weekend but its really not oppressive. Now, satellite6 along with action radar show what im tracking is a cold front across the great lakes. Ahead of it we have some clouds and some spotty showers. Doesnt like like well see a lot of activity and tonight though cant rule out the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm in spots. Elsewhere though just partly cloudy, a warm night 68 degrees and cooler suburbs 75 degrees for center city and future tracker showing tomorrow morning at 9 30 temperatures already in the 80s along the i95 corridor and areas to the south and east. As we head into the afternoon temperatures around 90 again likely the last day in our heat wave. So, we have had this pattern with the jet stream well up to the north known as a ridge of high pressure. What will happen as we head towards the end of the week. Big dip in the jet stream, big trough and that will bring much cooler conditions. Also were looking at the potential for some heavy rain thursday night into friday. So the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, tomorrow hot and humid again. A high near 90. If we that hit that, thats day eight of our heat wave. On wednesday still a warm day but not quite as hot with a high of 88 degrees. On thursday this is when youll notice the changes. It clouds up with rain developing. Our afternoon high on the cool side only 80 degrees and friday we have the potential for some heavy rain with showers and thunderstorms the high 79 and saturday havent had a cool saturday for awhile. Mostly cloudy and cool, 79 degrees. Were back up to 82 degrees on sunday with clouds and some sunshine. And monday mostly sunny, continued on the cool side a little bit with a high of 84 degrees. So, once we get past wednesday, we can turn off the air conditioning units give them a little bit of a break. Yeah, they could use it cecily thank you very much. Whats the deal is coming up next. Thats slightly humid. Dewpoints are in the 70s along the coast with that ocean influence. So its not oppressive humidity but its uncomfortable for some people. But there are some changes on the way.
