It had happened in wildwood on the beach near schillinger after new right around 10 00 oclock this morning and with the local beach patrol that saved the day. Action News Reporter jeff chirico is live near the scene with more on what happened, hey, jeff. Reporter hey walter, that is right it happened just before 9 00 oclock, 9 50 this morning. Family of four was out swimming, and before life guard went on duty. They were out there when they got into distress. It is believed they got caught up in a rip current. If you look at it right now life guard are returning to duty, beach is starting to empty but earlier today this family was swimming when no one was on the beach. Fortunately for them when they got in distress the life guard were just coming on to the beach at that time. They heard the screams for help, life guard rushed out brought four people, back inside, and then this is what the head of the beach patrol told me what happened at that point. Well, guard were heading down to their stations and they responded to some calls for help. They saw four people in the the water, appeared to be distressed swimmers, and they were able to go out and rescue those people. Hey hey. Reporter heros welcome from fellow life guard as they cheered the life guard who administered cpr to one of the swimmers, the threeyear veteran life guard john rockette was just coming on duty with his fell will owe life guard when they heard screams, they rushed in the water, as i said. One dult male was unconscious and lifeless and that is when, he resuscitated him right there on the beach. We got some calls of distress and couple people were out there swimming too deep, and we went out there and there was one individual who was unconscious at the time. We just assessed the situation as no signs have life so we started cpr right away. About 30 times in we went in, and signs of life, we found a cough and little butt of water and he was good to go. Reporter and that was his first time, doing cpr. He has been, here Wildwood Beach patrol for three years. He says thinks a confident booser for him and a a lot of people here, singing his praises for his hard work. What you want to do is swim parallel to the shore and let you are free from the grasp of the rip current swim back to the shore and always make sure you are swimming where a life guard is on duty. Aside from the rip currents down the coast today we had another nice stretch here in philadelphia. Starting out on wednesday with a High Temperature of 85 degrees. We stayed in the 80s thursday and friday. Then we will get up to 90 degrees in philadelphia, average for this time of the year is 87. So not that bad. Organizers say after one Year Anniversary grew closer they wanted to do something fun for the community rather than something somber. Police in Bristol Township are looking for a person who pistol whipped and robbed a gas station employee this morning. It happened at pioneer gas station on new falls road near route 413. Victim told police the gun man robbed them and then attack. The assailant went out the back door and into a waiting car. No word tonight how badly that clerk was injured. State police in delaware has released surveillance pictures of the car believed to be connect to the shooting of a shell gas station attendant yesterday in cranston heights. The gun man was driving this dark colored suv with the missing grill. He walk in the gas stations Convenient Store on the 2500 block of new port pike. Asked the victim to retrieve something, purchase from behind the counter and then shot him in the stomach. The clerk had opened the Cash Register so the thief grabbed the cash, jumped back in his vehicle and drove off. Victim survived and is now being treated at a local hospital.
