We have heavy rain moving through parts of the area the well start right here in south jersey. This is the heaviest were seeing, the areas of red that are now moving through malaga and elmer along route 55 and route 40, up near glassboro near Rowan University and 322 youre getting this rain and the heavier rain is about to hit that area as well. So be careful as youre traveling through this because you see enough rain with this that it could cause a real problem as youre driving. Also in Chadds Ford West chester, malvern all busy areas as youre trying to commute. We have some heavy rainfall causing at the very least ponding on the roadways even up in the Lehigh Valley. We havent showed you this as much because it hasnt been quite as heavy as it will be a in some of the other areas but youre starting to see some cells getting closer to reading moving towards allentown this morning. This threat of storms continues through the day. 73 degrees right now. It is warm it is muggy. Weve got a high of 87. Its not going to rain constantly. Well even see some sunshine here and there but at any point you could get one of these downpours. By 9 00 a. M. , 77. By noon, 83. By 3 00 p. M. , 86. Going up to 87 coming down from that at 6 oclock 84 degrees. So that means even in your evening commute, matt pelman, you could be having some really wet roads to contend with on this tuesday. Just a little bit damp at worst along 42 with just a little bit of northbound traffic headed towards 295 and the walt whitman bridge. No big delays yet as you come northbound on the 42 freeway. Headed ford ben franklin bridge, i probably dont have to remind you at this point but i will anyway westbound right lane remains out of commission for the rest of the summer because of the patco track work on the north side of the bridge so we do expect heavy westbound delays again coming into the city. It is quite wet this morning here in delco along 95 approaching kerlin street. Northbound go the taillights toward the blue route and the airport moving okay but moving through a decent amount of water. However, on 95 in the northeast its pretty much completely dry but with some southbound Traffic Building in. Like we see most mornings at this hour. Southbound jams approaching cottman and from allegheny to girard. Have a crash to avoid this morning in jenkintown along homestead road at cottman street. Not bad so far on the pennsylvania turnpike and its a big day with a visit from the big guy, president obama in town for the Naacp Convention. Hell touchdown at phl early this afternoon. Motorcade will make its way up to center city so expect rolling closures early this afternoon along 95 and the vine. Theyll turn it around and go southbound then early this evening. Many of which are already getting bipartisan support. Together we can make our communities safer. Reporter hell call for reducing harsh sentence and lowering taxpayer costs to house prisoners. On the eve of his speech here, the president commuted the sentence of 46 drug offenders 14 of whom had been sentenced to life. He said under current laws most would have already served their time. The criminal Justice System has already been a focus of this convention and the subject of a panel discussion. Senator bob casey pushed a senate bill aimed at steering people from incarceration by offering more education. Thats the tragic irony is we have all the data to support to support prekindergarten education leading to fewer folks ending up in the prison system. New on action news, police are working to see if a fire and a shooting at a home in delaware are connected. A fast moving fire damaged two homes in New Castle County overnight. The fire broke out just past 11 oclock on the unit block of bedford drive in edgemoor. It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control. One home was part of a shooting investigation from earlier in the day. A man was hurt in that shooting. No one was injured in the fire. Two more bill cosby accusers have revealed their identities as they ask a judge to shed more light on a 2005 Sexual Assault lawsuit. Beth ferrier and rebecca neal say they were both drugs and sexually assaulted by the famous comedian in 1986 in separate incidents. The women joined a court bid yesterday to unseal and release cosbys entire deposition transcript from a lawsuit brought on by a a temple employee in 2005. A judge made portions of that deposition public last week. Cosby has never been charged with a crime in connection with these sex assault claims. 6 06 now. More video has been released showing the former eagles quarterback Donovan Mcnabb being arrested on dui charges. In the footage mcnabb can be seen attempting to explain he is simply trying to get home. He says he hasnt been drinking but has been sick and taking cough medicine. First of all, i been i got a cold. But also in some of our western suburbs and you can see real close to the city were getting light rain in the city but in malvern in west chester, in chadds ford, for the past hour youve had some pretty heavy rain through that region. And even up near the Lehigh Valley hasnt been affecting you too much but a couple cells just starting right now. Not far from reading and pottstown and allentown. So, be careful of that as youre leaded out. Well have the threat of these storms all day. Lets go on outside and see what it looks like right now as were heading out. Were watching it in elmer along route 40 and 49 but now approaching glassboro a busier area, Rowan University, near 322, a lot of people travel near there. You have to be so careful not to drive through any flooded roadways. The problem with these storms and its all lifting up to the north and east so this is going to be heading towards berlin shortly but the problem with these storms matt weve got such humidity in this area you could get a downpour like that and thats what creates the problems on the roadway. Were also seeing wet conditions here this morning in Chester County. This is route 202 as you come out of the work zone northbound approaching 29 coming away from 401. Its very wet and sometimes in these work zones the drainage isnt the best. Watch out for the puddles. Dont want you to lose control, go hydroplaning. Not too far off dont forget about the new work that started last night in West Whiteland closing when it ford road. That will happen again tonight. Might want to use 100 as a an alternate. Scheduled to get a new traffic pattern as you travel between exton and lionville later this week. In bucks county new milling and paving work got under way yesterday. It will resume this morning at 8 oclock along slifer valley road and old beth them road. Along homestead road at cottman street. Southbound by cottman speeds in the 20s same as you travel now between allegheny and girard. Dont forget about the work going on on the delaware memorial bridge. Police say a group of children were swinging into the creek from a rope on a cliff 20 feet above when the boy lost his footing and fell. And we can see these storms kind of scattered through the region. Currently not seeing any lightning strikes with these but heavy rain producing flooding downpours and this is all moving through malaga on route 40 and look how youre really getting hit now in glassboro right near Rowan University on 322. If youre trying to drive through that youre going to see flooding on the roads because weve already had up to 2inches of rainfall in this part of the region. We can go a little farther north and see some of these in motion. You can see how its moving towards the region and up near route 70 in Burlington County youre getting hit with this and its lesser in the city, just hit or miss spotty showers but its been a bit heavier in malvern and chadds ford along 202 in norristown. I want to take one more look up to the northwest and i dont want to ignore you up in the Lehigh Valley because its been relatively dry but now were seeing those storms start to hit in and near reading you want to watch for this and a few cells nearly a town as youre headed out. The main concern is that theyre slow moving. Locally you could see one to 3 inches come down while a neighborhood a couple streets down the road might not be seeing anything but you may be traveling through that ponding on the road wayne the issue matt pelman is youll be dealing with the threat of these storms all through the day. Things are looking a little damp in the thorndale area in Chester County and starting to look a tad slow on the eastbound side of the 30 bypass as you pass 340 here and head out towards 113 and eventually exton where it is a little bit wetter than as you head north on 202 toward malvern. Still pretty dry here in the great northeast. But plenty of southbound traffic along 95 from past academy through this point at cottman, again past the betsy ross bridge into girard we are seeing those typical morning delays on the southbound side of 95. And we expect the delays although theyre not bad yet here on the ben franklin bridge. Westbound coming into the city of course that westbound right lane right there out of commission around the clock for the rest of the summer. Those are the roads and the bridges. Now the rails. Some big problems this morning just getting word of this septas Lansdale Doylestown line not running between doylestown and the penllyn station because of some Police Activity at the north wales station. Some of you may be able to use the warminster line as an alternate but the Lansdale Doylestown line halted this morningly well keep you posted on that and the Norristown Manayunk line has 15 minute delays. Thats because of some signal issues and its a big day around here with the Naacp Convention and the visit of president obama touching down at phl early this afternoon. The action cam was on the scene of this robbery just after 4 a. M. On the 9200 block of academy road in torresdale. In addition to the gun police say the intruders stole a television and a laptop. No one was physically hurt. This is the second robbery reported at this home within the past year. We have just learned that president obama will speak about this break through deal to try and keep Nuclear Weapons out of the hands of iran at 7 00 a. M. So at the top of the hour. The deal in austria comes after months of negotiations between iran and six other world powers including the u. S. It would allow United Nation inspectors to press for visits to Iranian Military sites as part of their monitoring duties but access would not necessarily be granted. Any deal will go through the Un Security Council which is expected to endorse it by the ends of the month. Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu is not happy with this. He predicts the deal were allow iran to practice terror in the middle east. Philadelphia police are investigating two separate stabings in grays ferry. The latest one involves a 16yearold boy playing basketball at a playground. Police say six men surrounded him and stabbed him twice in the back. This happened around 11 30 last night on the 2900 block of wharton street. The boy is in stable condition. The men got away. Around that same time police say someone stabbed a sixyearold man in the arm. This happened on the 1600 block of south taney street. The victim is also in stable condition. No arrests have been made. Police do not think the two cases are connected. Fire damaged a south Jersey Business late last night. This is new viewer have i had yo from Pennsauken Camden county. Heavy flames poured out of a shed near the batter up indoor batting cages just before 10 00 p. M. Chopper six was over the scene on the 7600 block of kaighn avenue moments after the fire was placed under control. No injuries were reported. It is unclear if the batting cages were damaged. Governor Chris Christie wants federal disaster aid to help storm victims in new jersey. High winds brought down trees and power lines back on june 23rd. Thousands of people were in the dark for days. The damage in south jersey is estimated at more than 15 million. The governor was initially criticized for not offering assistance when the storm hit. So, lets go a little closer. Yes, we have the storms weve been following pretty closely. Theyve been moving through malaga and now glassboro along the Atlantic City expressway and near hammonton but also starting to see some right near Atlantic City and right on the coastline right here if youre traveling on the garden state parkway. Well take another wider look and you get the sense that youre dealing with it everywhere. Now, closer to the city we can see that its lighter. Were not looking at areas of red and yellow, theyre not terrible downpours but its raining. Its in Burlington County, hit or miss near the city but its in jenkintown willow grove norristown malvern. Youve got a wet morning commute. Taking another look up near the Lehigh Valley and thats where we havent seen as much activity but now were starting to see some of these cells move near reading near hamburg, up nearly a town a couple cells near quakertown, allentown has been basically dry but the threat of these storms continues through the day and night. Lets go on outside. We want to see wait looks like right now and its raining out there as we look live on sky6, lots of low clouds hanging over the ben franklin bridge. Currently that temperature is 73 degrees. Its warm, its muggy out there. Its 70 degrees. Even in allentown 74 degrees in millville. And 74 degrees right now on the boardwalk in ac. So more humid than yesterday just as warm. Satellite6 and action radar showing weve had these line of storms moving through during your morning commute and then its going to be hit or miss beyond this point and we could really get that idea when you look at future tracker six. Ciccolos father is a 27 year veteran of the Boston Police force and is credited with alerting police to the threat. He also told police his son has a history of mental illness. The pentagon is ready to reconsider its ban on transgender individuals in the military.
