A building consent was approved by the Mackenzie District Council (MDC) on July 20, 2021 on the basis the new building will be very close to what was there prior to the fire.
In her report, MDC resource management planner Suzanne Blyth said “the appearance of the proposed renovations are not changing from what has been previously authorised and is at a scale consistent with the District Plan”.
The application puts the cost of the proposed building work at $1,200,000.
