Work on river bank protection to continue amid lockdown: Shameem

SHARIATPUR, April 4, 2021 (BSS) – Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today said the government will continue its ongoing development works on river bank protection amid country wide lockdown to protect river banks from further erosion.
“The government is giving highest priority in protecting the river banks, to stop flood water from entering main land in the upcoming monsoon season,” he said while visiting the ongoing river bank protection work of Padma river at Jajira and Naria areas of the district.
Shameem said as per directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, proper health guidelines will be ensured for the workers, who are engaged in building dams to protect river banks from erosion.
