Edward Gardella
Through both active duty and retirement, I have been associated with the Worcester Police Department for over 52 years.
It is not perfect now and certainly was not when I served for 32 years. But I have seen the WPD strive to continually improve and raise its standards.
Few organizations, companies, religious groups, government agencies or their leaders are perfect. We know that little which is operated or controlled by humans can attain perfection.
But setting and maintaining a high standard of behavior and professionalism is what all must strive for, especially in law enforcement. Both individuals and organizations have the ability and the obligation to continuously improve, learn from challenges and mistakes, as difficult as it may be.
