The Indian government has approved a Rs 1,179.72 crore project to continue its flagship scheme for women safety until 2025-26. The Union Cabinet approved the proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to continue the implementation of the "Safety of Women" umbrella scheme. The scheme aims to prevent incidents of crime against women in India, which saw 4,45,256 cases registered in 2022, an average of 51 FIRs every hour.
