A 36-year-old woman died in what deputies are calling a "violent collision" with another vehicle that authorities had tried to stop prior to the crash, according to Lt. (Video above: Sky 4 flew over crash scene Wednesday night) The collision happened just after 4 p.m. on Blackstock Road near Bradford Road in the Roebuck community, the coroner said. Before the accident, a deputy and a trooper with the South Carolina Highway had tried to stop a driver who had turned right from Reidville Rd. onto E. Blackstock Rd. "with a loud exhaust and squealing tires," Bobo said."The deputy activated his blue lights and siren to get around the cars in front of him in the turn lane in an attempt to stop the black Cadillac, but the Cadillac accelerated, started weaving in and out of both lanes and also passed other cars in the median, kicking up a lot of dust," Bobo said in a news release.Bobo said the deputy took into consideration "the suspect’s reckless driving and excessive speed, the time of day, the heavy traffic in that area, and the approaching school zone, and terminated his attempted traffic stop in the vicinity of Paradise Lanes." When the deputy got to the red light at East Blackstock and Hidden Hill Road, a trooper on an agency motorcycle, who had also witnessed the actions of the suspect vehicle, pulled beside him with his blue lights activated, according to Bobo. Bobo said the trooper also cut off his blue lights. When the light turned green, the trooper was in front as both he and the deputy continued traveling down East Blackstock Road toward Dawkins Middle School, Bobo said. As they approached Bradford Drive, the deputy and trooper discovered that a black Cadillac had been in a "violent collision" with another vehicle, according to Bobo. Bobo said the deputy and trooper tried to help Munyon, who was the driver of the other vehicle while trying to detain the suspect they were previously trying to pull over. Muynon died at the scene, the coroner said. Bobo said the suspect was detained at the scene. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
