Galesburg Police on Saturday responded to Walmart for a report of theft. Asset Protection Employees at the store observed three individuals, who had previously committed retail thefts in the past, as they would only scan certain items at the self-checkout. A 55-year-old man, a 53-year-old woman, and a 35-year-old woman were stopped by employees after they reached the final point of sale at the store. The three were being uncooperative with employees and refused to go to a back office. The three, instead responded to the Customer Service counter. After police arrived, officers had the suspect view the security video which showed the 53-year-old woman not scanning all of their items. The trio were attempting to steal a little over $100 worth of goods. The 53-year-old woman was placed under arrest and was charged with Retail Theft. GPD and Walmart officials are also investigating after a string of shoplifting incidents involving male suspect continually coming into the store and stealing trading cards. The male suspect stuffs unopened trading cards into a Walmart bag he pulls from his pocket and then departs the store each time.
