WOKHA — Consequent upon a six-day ultimatum served to the district administration by five organisations of Wokha village pertaining to ongoing construction of NH-61 from Km 72.40 to Km 83, a joint inspection comprising executive engineer of PWD (NH) Kohima division; executive engineer of Power Wokha; executive engineer of PHED, Wokha, SDO (Civil) Wokha, SDO (NH) Wokha, and TTC Infra was conducted on Saturday. It may be mentioned that Wokha Village Youth Organisation, Wokha Village Council, Wokha Village Women Organisation, Wokha Village Students’ Union and Wokha Village Elders’ Forum had submiited a joint representation to the deputy commissioner of Wokha on May 15. During the joint inspection, measurements along the stretch were done by marking various areas required for reconstruction according to the detailed project report (DPR). The committee lamented that compensations were not equally distributed according to the damaged cost. The committee has urged the construction firm and agencies involved in the ongoing road construction to utilise compensated land acquired for construction of the road.
