'Woke' National Trust academic tasked with reviewing colonial past  'intimidated' by critics

Both the culture secretary, Oliver Dowden, and Nigel Huddleston, parliamentary under-secretary for sport, heritage and tourism, have expressed reservations about the Trust's direction.

The “woke” National Trust academic tasked with reviewing its links with colonialism claims she has been “intimidated” by critics. 
Professor Corinne Fowler, an historian at the University of Leicester, has drawn comparisons between the vilification of academics, including herself, and attacks by climate-crisis deniers on scientists warning about global heating.
