Yeah, this initiative called new york responds was announced today at a summit in albany. The new Emergency Management computer syste will replace an der pktchwork of systems used by defferent counties. It integrates, phones,radio, digital into one site that can be used by local and state authorities as they monitor and respond to disasters. That is the plan, to provide a more effective, onestopshop, for our communities, as well as for us at the state level, monitoring the Emergency Operation centers. As part of the program, a series of weather sensors will also be installed around the state to monitor conaitions to aid in disaster response. The first deployment of active duty soldiers to battle fires in nine years. The fires are burning across at least six states. The stakes are high, and so is the cost. 100 million a week.
