There was a severe thunderstorm watch for duchess county, but there is a front in their vicinity. There were a few strong thunderstorms nearby poughkeepsie, but now the threat is over. Most of the big storms are north of poughkeepsie into portions of western massachusetts and back over towards boston, so no longer a threat. Yes, this morning earlier we had numerous reports of wind damage across long island from the severe line that came through, that big severe storm, stony brook, trees down over Shelter Island and out towards the twin forks area. Now there might be one or two leftover storms at the jersey shore. Otherwise, it dries out. Its a nice break from the heat tomorrow, but we are tracking more rain for friday. In some places like here, electric poles were also victims of this storm, a storm that one guy says sounded like a freight train. The sound of this storm so frightened a homeowner that he and his wife fled to their basement. We went down and we did what we had to do. We got out of danger as much as we could. Reporter the given home wasnt damaged, but he was among the fortunate. Father patrick stood near what was left of his roof at a church. It was ripped away by the high winds. Just came off if you were to open up a bottle like a corkscrew. Just came up and flew away. Reporter Suffolk Police say no one was injured anywhere in this storm. Close to 70,000 across suffolk countys north shore without electric power. Its about a 35mile stretch that was hit very, very hard. Were attacking it 24 7 until were down. Reporter there are 250 crews on the job with more on the way. Some may not get their power back until friday morning. The cleanup may take just as long. A man says the motive was easy to figure out. He says he heard the victims making comments about the body of the shooters girlfriend. You know, he was defending his womans honor. Reporter he says that was the motive for last nights shooting and these pictures show the aftermath. The gunshot victim laying on the ground being attended to by emergency workers. After a sold out concert headlined by j cole ended, people started shuffling out. He took his 13yearold daughter to that show. He said he heard some loud pops as he and his daughter walked to their car. He thought a prankster was lighting fireworks. Turned and saw a guy with a gun in his hand and saw the flashes and we started running. Reporter early this morning, detectives scoured the parking lot for clues. We spoke to employees who worked the concert as they headed home. The security guy on the other side told me there was a gunshot. I heard like four of them and then after the four stopped, it was like, all right, i thought it was fireworks. Then five more came. Thats when everyone started running, the police came.
