These are the flames prompting a mandatory evacuation for the small Beach Community of la conchita watching them as they marched down the ridge. The freeway and the flame jumped that and feeding on the thick dry brush. A natural catastrophe unfolding overnight as the fires roaring across Southern California acres. Towering flames pushed by santa ana winds roaring through neighborhoods, feeding on thick brush, illuminating the night sky for a second day. This is a multiday weather event projacked to last until friday. This has only just begun. Reporter as many as four fires are burning across Southern California. The largest, the thomas fire destroying hundreds of homes and buildings in Ventura County forcing more than 27,000 residents and even some animals to safer ground. Three firefighters hurt fighting that blaze overnight as crews in Santa Clarita battle back a third fire jumping highways and burning in two counties this morning. And so far this morning where we are weve only seen relatively calm winds and thats affecting the speed of these flames. Certainly the people in la conchita are seizing the opportunity to get to safety while at the same time hoping these flames spare their hopes. Guys. We share that hope, all right, thank you, marcus. The hillside is on fire right now and fornt its moved away from some of the hopes and when the wins kick up thats what were concerned about. Yesterday we had 40 to 50mileanhour winds in the helicopter and at that point in time it was just raging down the hillside so its calmed down a little but were expecting the worst once they kick up again. Lets bring in our chief Legal Correspondent dan abrams and former People Magazine editor larry hackett. We are here again. And you heard in amys report, masterson has strongly denied these accusations. I think innocent until Proven Guilty is a little misunderstood phrase. That is what applies in a criminal court when the government has the power to take away your freedom. We intentionally stack the deck in favor of the defendant to say were not going to put really high standard. That doesnt mean the rest of society has to apply the same standard. It means that the rest of society has to be careful about what they do. They shouldnt just be rash and take action against someone. I think that the challenge for him here can the serial nature of the allegations and the type of allegation. Youre not talking about like Dustin Hoffman, youre talking about allegations of rape and youre talking about according to reports from multiple accusers and that puts netflix in a tough spot. And im glad you cleared it up like that because when theres so many Different Cases out there and this one is, you know, very serious. You know, we in the law always talk about first degree, second degree, third degree and i think its important to do that in this context too which is to say there are the theres the harvey weinstein, right, which involves enormous number of them and includes allegations of Sexual Assault and then it goes down from there to the bottom inappropriate comments, et cetera. And i think that the different kinds of allegations have to be treated differently. Some are starting to fight back because we saw with ratner like he is suing for defamation. Do you think well see more . It depends. If they didnt do it youll see them suing. The problem with Something Like ratner is there are a number of allegations against him and theres only one person hes going after. You know, its the serial nature is that gets them into trouble. You have to say well, bill cosby, for example, seems to want 0 cherry pick which ones might not have done it. You either have to say its all not true. None of it is true or, you know, or not. And, larry weve seen hollywood react very swiftly to these allegations and accusations. In part is it about the fear of losing audiences. Sure, in the case of netflix thats a subscription service, new brand and trying to get as many customers as they want and be known for their programming and not stars who hollywood and these organizations, the studios and media organizations are groping for some bottom line and want some order to it. As dan said its sort of floating out there and have incredibly serious criminal charges against accusations of bad behavior and want to see some kind of like floor set and a way to proceed and right now they dont have that and groping case by case by case which means youll talk about it later on. In terms of how to proceed the goal would be to prevent this type of thing. It seems unreasonable to think theyd be able to do a background check on everyone working on their set. This leads us to believe they still have some level of pancreatic function. Over the course of three to five months they were put on a very low calorie diet where he took in between 825 and 853 calories. This was medically supervised. Of those people 46 actually achieved diabetes remission. We believe that this is in part because on average they lost around 20 pounds. And this type of weight loss takes stress off of the pancreas and allows it to function better. But i have to say it was medically supervised and this is not something that people should go oat alone. Medically supervised. Liquid diet. What does 850 calories look like on a plate. So let me walk you through a day. This is breakfast here. For breakfast we have half of an avocado with about two ounces of tuna. I mean thats really thats a al on to lunch and here at lunch we have a handful of watercress. Four cherry tomatoes a quarter of a cucumber, spring onion and a little chicken. Not terrible, but, remember this is the whole day and then dinner, we have a few ounces of fish, a quarter cup of chickpeas and a quarter of a potato. I could see why a fifth of the people that were a part of this dropped out. They just could not simply could not do this so what are the downsides of this program. One of the downsides of this program is that you know you risk dehydration because youre not taking in significant amount of water from your food or that matter. You could become constipated because, look, its a very low residue low intake. Also were concerned about the loss of muscle because of the rapid rate of weight loss. Of course, you should be seeing your doctor if Something Like this is happening to you, diabetes or other kind of conditions but what else can you do to help monitor your situation. But before we before we go there, i want to ask how was it when you found out you got this role and you were going to be a part of this whole star wars universe. Id wanted to be in star wars my whole life, you know. I had been a fan since i was 6 years old when i first saw the flips and i remember saying to my mother because i wanted to be an actress since i was very young and said, god i really want to be a star wars movie and my mother saying they dont make them anymore. Then when i heard this was coming back, you know, i was cheering on with the rest of the world thinking were going to have it again and i really wanted to be a part of it and also when i saw how diverse the casting was, thats what exc its true, you know. We need to have our world reflected in our entertainment so i wanted to be a part of that more than ever. Did you get the word out through your people . I mean, i was just constantly going on and on and on about it and i would just every phone call say, oh, theyre interested in this. I want to be in star wars. Youve got a meeting for this. I want to be in star wars. I was relentless about it then i was very lucky to hear that they were interested. And then it was a very slow sort of process because we didnt know if it would work with my schedule for game of thrones and then they were very generous and accommodating and but when i knew it was happening was when i came in for the costume fitting and i saw that costume and i knew about the character but seeing they had decided to create this female character who looked incredible but her the shape of her body. Its not about her exposing her gender. Its about who she is and how we relate to her. [ applause ] so now ive got these two massive armies of fans behind you. Theyre going to have to duke it out, game of thrones fans and star wars fans. Well, theyre very passion nall fan bases. I mean a lot of crossover. I think there really is. Theres something about something about the fantastical realm that allows us to relate to the Human Experience in a closer way. You know, intimacy can be very difficult in our modern age but somehow when theres an epic landscape visually, those human relationships seem to speak to us more. I could just sit here and listen to you. [ laughter ] we were talking about growing up and wanting to be in star wars and i understand that you really connected with Princess Leia. How so . Im someone who has been obsessed with television and movies and watching from a very, very early age and i loved that visual medium of storytelling. And i wanted to be an actor but what i was aware of even early on i wasnt seeing me. I felt i was seeing a homogenized version of what it was to be a woman. That didnt discourage you. No, it didnt because ive always had a certain degree of optimism because ive been so interested in arts and in people, in the Human Experience, just the business of being human like we all are. That i felt that the world would change and in looking at history and looking at the way the world had changed i felt that that would be expressed in our storytelling so i remember watching star wars and thinking, looking at Princess Leia and looking at Carrie Fisher and thinking, she is different. She is unafraid. Shes smart. Shes brave. Shes bold. Shes shes hilarious. And she doesnt look the same as all those other kinds of representations were given. Yeah. [ applause ] can we have lunch actually . In this film you and john boyega share a lot of moments. Can you share with us a little about this whole battle scene or yes. I mean we love him. He was just here. He is an incredible man. And he he is hes amazing hes so talented but he has this vital energy that just really inspires everyone around him. We have no idea what youre talking about. But what i can tell you, i believe theres been a trailer and youve seen some contact. Yes. Weve seen a moment contact and what i can tell you is that i was reunited with c. C. Smith and the amazing c. C. Smith taught me to fight on game of thrones so back before season two filming started on game of thrones, he was the man that gave me the confidence and the skills and worked with me for months beforehand and taught me to fight and sword fight.
