The city of La Crosse and town of Medary in Wisconsin have issued burn bans that prohibit open burning of any kind, including charcoal grills, recreational fire pits, and fireworks. The city of Onalaska has also issued a ban that restricts charcoal grills to non-combustible surfaces and prohibits campfires, burn piles, and fireworks.
