Farmers across the state are being encouraged to join a focus group to provide insight on newly proposed groundwater nitrate standards.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is currently working on the potential performance standards in hopes of improving groundwater quality. The agency is also including the University of Wisconsin-Madison's College of Agricultural & Life Sciences
into the process to better understand the impact these regulations may have on farmers.
A team at UW-Madison will be conducting Farmer Focus Groups later this winter in order to receive specific input and feedback on these changes. Participation in a group is voluntary and meetings will be held virtually during January and February.
