ROCKFORD — The Winnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force is investigating a fatal shooting by a Winnebago County sheriff's deputy Saturday night following a domestic disturbance.
According to a news release issued by the task force, the deputy responded to the call about 5:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of Bellwort Drive when the "situation escalated to an officer-involved shooting."
A man and a deputy were injured. The man was taken from the home to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, the release states. The deputy was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The man's name is being withheld pending the notification of family.
