Press reports in Turkey recently suggested that Azerbaijan would recognise the occupied by Turkey territory in northern Cyprus. EURACTIV asked Azerbaijan’s embassy in Brussels if this is the case. This is what they replied.
“The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Belgium does not comment on comments and rumours. The legal content of the relations of Azerbaijan with the EU and its member states is laid down in the bilateral documents signed between them or adopted by them. Unlike journalists and parliamentarians of some EU member states, Azerbaijan has not put its strategic relations with the EU in confrontation with Azerbaijan-Turkey allied relations,” the embassy told EURACTIV in an emailed response.
