The Jack Fire outside Roseburg fills the air with smoke at North Umpqua Highway. It's one of two fires that, together, have prompted air quality advisories for Klamath and Lake counties and parts of Douglas and Jackson counties.
A wildfire in south-central Oregon is growing quickly and degrading air quality in dry, hot and windy conditions. The Bootleg Fire in Klamath County started Tuesday. As of this Friday morning it, it had grown to almost 39,000 acres.
Air quality advisories are in effect for a large swathe of South and Central Oregon as two large wildfires in the region burn through forests, forcing road closures and prompting evacuation orders in some rural communities.
