A wildfire in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is moving north, pushing toward private property in the area.
The Bezhik Fire, which officials believe started with a lightning strike Monday, is estimated to be 950 acres in size, according to the most recent update from the U.S. Forest Service - Superior National Forest. Officials say Wednesday's overcast, rainy conditions helped prevent the fire from growing larger.
It originally started in an area northwest of Bezhik Lake and west of Big Moose Lake, about 16 miles north of Tower, Minnesota, but has since moved further north.
