As he crossed the finish line at Punchestown in their annual charity race, amateur Wicklow jockey Ronan Wilson wrestled with conflicting emotions. Overjoyed at having just fulfilled a childhood dream, yet saddened by those not there to witness it, he looked to the heavens and paid silent tribute to his late parents.After enduring months of gruelling training, the avid Blessington rider battled it out alongside 25 amateur riders at Punchestown in April, competing over one mile and seven furlongs in aid of the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund.
