In the first two weeks of joining the BJP, erstwhile TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari has been playing second fiddle to BJP state President Dilip Ghosh in several rallies across West Bengal. It is a deliberate strategy. Ghosh, who has nursed the BJP for the past five years in the state and aided its growth from two MPs to 18, is unlikely to take kindly to a new entrant from the Trinamool hogging the limelight. Adhikari has accompanied Ghosh in rallies across the state to give an impression of being a comrade and not a competitor to the BJP leader. This was a tactical move to silence the detractors in the TMC who were trying to make trouble within the BJP by projecting Adhikari as a challenger to Ghosh’s aspirations for the top-most post of Bengal.
