On January 8, Chief Justice of India (CJI) S.A. Bobde, while hearing an interlocutory application on increasing attacks on forest department staff, made a case for issuing firearms to them. India’s foresters are, as per some statistics, the most vulnerable to physical attacks--the country accounts for 31 per cent of all such attacks in the world.
