The webinar, hosted by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, will introduce the new WHO guidance document Step-by-step guide for developing a public health strategy for artisanal and small-scale gold mining in the context of the Minamata Convention on Mercury (available in Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish).The link to register is in the attached flyer.The Minamata Convention on Mercury requires that a National Action Plan for artisanal and small-scale gold mining include a public health strategy on the exposure of miners and their communities to mercury.To support national health authorities, WHO has prepared guidance on developing an evidence-based public health strategy for artisanal and small-scale gold mining.Webinar presentations will include an overview of the approach in the guidance and insights and experiences from countries that pilot tested the approach.
