WHITMAN — The Whitman Fire Department received a 911 call from Jason McCarthy asking for assistance for his wife Erica Rodriguez who was in labor at about 3:58 a.m. on Wednesday.
Firefighters arrived on scene and immediately set up a sterile environment in order for Rodriguez to give birth.
"It was quick," said Rodriguez, who was giving birth to her third child in the last seven years, with the previous two, 3-year-old Brady and 6-year-old Hailey, taking about 20 to 30 minutes to be delivered.
By 4:06 a.m. that same Wednesday morning, Nathan McCarthy, who is now less than a week old, was born in their home in minutes thanks to the help of Whitman firefighters.
