Town council voted to apply for $750,000 in federal funding to support the project during its regular meeting Monday.

“It would be a great opportunity for Whitecourt (to apply),” Smyl told council Monday.
“The (pathway extension) is something that can change the whole dynamic of the downtown and Rotary Park.”
The application will be made through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF), which Smyl noted is another program created to offset the pandemic’s economic impact.
CCRF was launched with $500 million available over two years for municipalities and non-profits to build community infrastructure, according to town administration.
