PROVIDENCE
White Electric, the eclectic coffee shop and cafe that has been a neighborhood institution for 20 years is under new ownership.
It's now a worker-owned cooperative, having been purchased by staff members, said Chloe Chassaing. The new owners posted the news on Instagram on Monday with a joyful photo.
"It was like asking for a horse for Christmas," she said. "We didn’t believe it could happen."
They hope to reopen White Electric in early May, pending necessary licenses. It will remain takeout only for the time being but with the familiar lineup of coffee, sandwiches, salads, pastries, bagels and neighborly hospitality.
