Skiers head up the Lenawee Mountain lift at Arapahoe Basin on their reopening day May 27, 2020, following a 10-week shutdown due to COVID-19. The reopening was short-lived, though. Warm temperatures forced the area to close 12 days later. (Andy Cross, The Denver Post)
With Copper Mountain and Snowmass shutting down ski operations for the season on Sunday, four Colorado ski areas remain open, and two of them will be closed in two weeks.
Next to close are Winter Park and Loveland, both set to close on May 9. That will leave Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin.
Breckenridge plans to remain open through Memorial Day. Arapahoe Basin still hasn’t set a date, but chief operating officer Alan Henceroth says he believes the area will be able to stay open into June as usual.
