MANSFIELD – Rachel Shapiro and Emma Swain love working with kids and see part of their counselor jobs as creating special memories for their campers.
Shapiro and Swain work at the Mansfield Parks & Recreation Summer Camp at Memorial Park. About 80 campers a week take part in the program, which runs until Aug. 20.
Shapiro, 18, has been coming to the Mansfield camp since she was 5 years old. This is her second year as a counselor.
“I’ve been going to this camp for so long (becoming a counselor) was the next step,” she said. “This camp is kind of like my home.”
