BUT IT DOES MEAN THEY WILL HAVE TO KNOW THE SYMPTOMS TO WATCH FOR. Julie Willems Van Dijk - If you received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, please know this is very unlikely to affect you. (vo) The state’s Deputy Health Secretary stressed just how rare adverse reactions to the Johnson and Johnson vaccine are... rare, she said, but also potentially very serious. That’s the reason for the vaccine pause, and why health officials are spreading the word about the possible serious side effects. Julie Willems Van Dijk - Severe headache, abdominal pain, le pain, shortness of breath or n vision problems - generally occurring 6-to-15 days after your vaccine. Julie Willems Van Dijk - If you experience these symptoms, especially in that time frame, please contact your health care provider. (VO) These symptoms are not the same as the more common flu-like symptoms that can occur within 24 hours after the shot. Governor Tony Evers says the vaccine pause will have only a minor impact on the state’s vaccine roll-out... but he understands the need to be cautious. Gov Tony Evers - I understand the CDC’s necessity to pull back and investigate further, ensure there’s not others and make a decision going forward. But, it takes a piece out of the arsenal, a small piece. (VO) Meanwhile health officials are trying to spread the word about the vaccine pause, and also to reassure those who have already had the J&J shot. Kent - ARE YOUR RECOMMENDING THAT VACCINATORS REACH OUT AND CONTACT THESE PEOPLE AND ADVISE THEM ABOUT THE SITUATION? Julie Willems Van Dijk - We do know that some of our vaccinators will reach back out to some of their patients and provide them with further information. And that’s just really good patient care. KENT, WHAT HAPPENS TO THE JOHNSON AND JOHNSON VACCINE THAT WISCONSIN HAS ALREADY RECEIVED, BUT HAS NOT YET BEEN GIVEN TO PATIENTS? THERE WERE 350 J-AND-J DOSES SET FOR A VACCINE CLINIC HERE TOMORROW. EVERYONE WITH AN APPOINTMENT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT HAS BEEN CANCELED. BUT THERE ARE ALSO TEN-THOUSAND NEW DOSES ARRIVING ACROSS WISCONSIN THIS WEEK. THE STATE IS TELLING VACCINATORS TO HOLD ONTO THOSE DOSES... STORE
