Kent Police
Mourners paid tribute to Julia James by leaving lit candles on their doorsteps last night, a week after the police community support officer was found dead near her Kent home.
The 53-year-old mother of two was walking her dog when she is believed to have been attacked on a footpath on the edge of Ackholt Wood, in the village of Snowdown, near Dover.
Police have launched a murder investigation but are not believed to have identified suspects or a motive for her killing.
What do police know?
James “suffered repeated blunt force trauma injuries to her head” during the attack, reports The Times. Her Jack Russell, Toby, “was waiting by her side” when her body was found on Tuesday last week, the newspaper adds.
