Wilmington had no unhealthy air quality days in terms of ozone pollution, or smog, and no unhealthy air quality days because of short-term or long-term particle pollution, like soot in the air.
According to the ALA's annual “State of the Air” report, Wilmington was one of only five cities nationwide to rank on the "cleanest" lists for all three of the study's criteria: ozone pollution, year-round particle pollution and short-term particle pollution, like the kind that results from wildfires. (The American Lung Association, long known for its fight again smoking and lung cancer, works to improve lung health and reduce lung disease.)
