WESTPORT— Many people are looking forward to 2021, and Westport residents have something new to look forward to — multiple beach decals per household.
Selectmen at the Dec. 21 meeting voted to allow as many licensed drivers per household obtain separate beach passes. Seasonal residents will be limited to two beach passes per household.
Selectman Brian Valcourt has said on a few occasions -- including at the Dec. 21 meeting — that the former beach decal policy “punishes poor people.” Valcourt has also said that during this pandemic, some financially strapped families should not be limited in their ability to obtain a beach pass.
According to beach-goer David Cass, no taxpayer should have limited access.
