The head of Western University’s board of governors spoke out Friday afternoon, days after the school’s chancellor drew fire for a recent holiday trip abroad.
Board chair Rick Konrad told The Free Press he expects it will be early next week before it’s reached any decision regarding Chancellor Linda Hasenfratz, whose mid-pandemic vacation has irked faculty and students.

“It’s a very difficult decision for someone who has done a great deal for Western and is much admired for her role with students in particular.” Konrad said. “She has a lot of remorse. We are working very hard to find the right solution.”
