NEW DELHI: In a major political gambit, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday declared that she would contest the forthcoming assembly election from Nandigram. It would be a do-or-die contest for not just the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo but her party as well.
By making the announcement, Mamata has challenged TMC’s main rival, the BJP, in general and her former loyalist Suvendu Adhikari in particular. Adhikari was the sitting MLA from Nandigram till he resigned on December 16 last year.
