The August 2022 election for Montgomery County mayor may seem like an eternity away — actually, it is — but there is already one candidate confirmed for the race.
Wes Golden, the current Health and Safety manager for the city of Clarksville, ended growing speculation about his candidacy Thursday, formally issuing a press release detailing his bid for the top job in county government.
It's early, but he's the only confirmed candidate in the race. Golden is openly running as a Republican.
While Golden is, for now, a maybe in the eyes of local voters, what is already certain is that there will be a new face in the county mayor's office by the end of next year.
