LEROY — Wellsville's unbeaten season came to an end Friday night, as No. 1 LeRoy halted No. 4 Wellsville's perfect spring in the Section V semifinals with a 3-0 home win.
The top-seeded Knights opened with a 25-13 win to take the early advantage, then followed up with 25-17 and 25-12 victories to clinch the sweep and earn a spot in the championship game.
"LeRoy did a great job at placing the ball to whatever areas we didn’t have covered," said Wellsville coach Shannon Steiner. "Our girls lost stamina after the first match and couldn’t seem to get it back. We had a great season however and I’m proud at how far we came as a team."
