However, as part of the response to the recent “health check” on the programme, officials have been asked to go away and clarify LGWM’s objectives, which has resulted in some significant changes.
That clarification has meant that the LGWM board has put a weighting on each of the five objectives of LGWM that were part of the original programme when it was unveiled in 2019. Some of the individual objectives have also been changed.
At the heart of the programme is an objective to reduce reliance on cars.
This has been given a 40 per cent weighting and had an additional climate change objective added to it. LGWM will now seek to reduce “carbon emissions and increas[e] mode shift by reducing reliance on private vehicles”.
