Mary Guo didn't start drinking coffee until she moved to Wellington.
Six years later she goes into cafes across the city and orders a flat white while she takes in the environment and sketches what she sees.
Her version of Wellington is vibrant with stand-out colours and whimsical characters. It’s a sight for Wellington residents’ sore eyes as the city has been criticised for its water woes, housing problems and more recently, it's self-labelling of being the “coolest little capital”.
Guo moved from China to New Zealand in 2014, wanting to leave the hustle and bustle of Shanghai for Wellington’s wild winds – in fact, the wind was a major selling point for her.
