Weekly Update: New COVID cases continue downward trend in 8-county lakes area, but local active cases and statewide deaths remain elevated

Since Oct. 20, 2021, the state reported an additional 15,914 COVID-19 cases, totaling 781,548 for the entire pandemic. Also, 123 new deaths were reported by the state in the last seven days, 12 fewer than last week, totaling 8,612 for the entire pandemic. Currently, Becker County reported 201 active cases, a decrease of 4 active cases since Oct. 20. Otter Tail County was the only county in the region to experience a slight uptick in new cases, the other seven counties experienced slight, or moderate, decreases in weekly case numbers. Statewide COVID-19 data is not being released on Saturdays and Sundays.
