Weekly Update: COVID-19 cases surging in the NW Minnesota 8-county lakes area with 759 new infections this week, a 56% increase in new cases over the previous week

Since Sept. 8, 2021, the state reported an additional 13,297 COVID-19 cases, totaling 676,505 for the entire pandemic, an increase of 1,390 new cases statewide over the previous week. Also, 91 new deaths were reported by the state in the last seven days, 43 more than the previous week, totaling 7,956 for the entire pandemic. Currently, Becker County reported 159 active cases, an increase of 64 active cases, or a 67% increase, since Sept. 8. Statewide COVID-19 data is not being released on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, the state added previously unconfirmed COVID-related deaths from long-term care facilities to Wednesday's total.
