Sheriffs deputies arrived to serve a search warrant. Heres what we know now police say a 19yearold former student opened fire at Marjory StonemanDouglas High School in parkland, florida, about 30 miles northwest of ft. Lauderdale. 17 people died. 14 others were hurt. Surviving students were visibly shaken. There was another body in front of me. There was three in the bathroom door and another one. Right now the Sheriffs Office is not releasing the identities of the victims. We know that one of the People Killed was a School Football coach. Police arrested the suspect an hour after the massacre and released this photo. Authorities identify him as 19yearold nikolas cruz. Hes a former student who had been expelled. Now theyre looking at his social media accounts, something they describe as very disturbing. Matt delucia is in our digital operations center. What are police finding . Reporter one of the things theyre looking into is an Instagram Photo where the suspect posed with a gun in front of his face. Some say the suspect had a strong interest in guns. Nikolas cruz was a former student at the school. He had been expelled for disciplinary reasons. At least one teacher identified the suspect as a potential threat after he allegedly threatened students last year. With some of the early signals coming to light, a former fbi profiler tries to make sense of what happened. Any time we siee a shooter like this, there are preincident indicators. They tell someone, write about it on the internet, or some social network page. We never see an individual totally act out of the dark. The problem is, we dont put two and two together until the terrible shooting takes place. Reporter we are also hearing from the attorney of the family that the suspect had been living with. The Attorney Says the alleged shooter had been living with the family since his mother died in november. The family owns guns, but they were kept in gun safes. Its not sure if the gun was one belonging to the family. Thank you. Philadelphia mayor jim kenney tweeted, this is not normal. Schools should be safe havens, not scenes of senseless violence. A mother said her daughter tried to stand up to a schoolbus bully and ended up handcuffed in the back of a police van. Heres the video of the officer on the bus after the fight. You see the 11yearold answering questions just before the officer handcuffed her and put her in the van. An officer took her to jail, charged her with disorderly conduct. The girls mother said no one bothered to call her. I could not believe they arrested my 11yearold child. They treated her like she maybe murdered somebody or, you know, did something very destructive. The bus company for the William Penn School district couldnt explain why the bus aide went as far as calling police. However, its now offering the child a different shuttle. Darbys police chief has not responded to our calls or visits. 5 35. This morning, new Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will make a comment about new jersey transit. It follows numbers showing the Transit Agency is having a hard time keeping its schedule. Trains are on time 74 , down from 80 a year ago. The museum is set to open next year on pattison avenue across from the linc in south philadelphia. Yesterday organizers announced plans for the new museum of sports. They offered grilled sausage, steamed dumplings, as well. Everything is served with kim chi, a popular sidedish consisting of cabbage and radishes and seasoning. Its hot but good. Its authentic to south korea but not for everyone. I definitely warned about the kimchi. They said there are definitely spicy ones. My least favorite is dried squid. Of all the things to eat this is the line for mcdonalds. A staple. Amazing. Mcdonalds is one of our biggest imports. That question of why, why did accused gunman, 19yearold nikolas cruz, enter the school yesterday afternoon, why did he open fire, what led to this event yesterday . Weve seen it over the past couple of decades, the School Massacres that take place. Thats the numberone thing that the whole Community Wants to know. Investigators are combing through the aftermath, whats in the school. Theyre also going through cruzs social media posts. A lot of people say he was very open with thoughts about grievances and things of that nature. Theyre tale a look at his social media accounts taking a look at his social media accounts and have him in custody. Theyre also questioning him, trying to figure out what might have caused him to do this. Weve learned a little bit about him last night from a family friend. Were told that cruz moved in with a family friend in november when his mother died. An attorney for the family told nbc news that they did not see this coming from him. That he had a relatively uneventful stay there over the last few months. A lot of students that you saw interviewed yesterday said just the opposite. That when they had dealings with him before he was expelled, a lot of students didnt want to associate again with him after that. A different type of personality. Investigators are trying to figure out why this happened. Meanwhile, 15 people are in hospital being treated for their injuries. Some fighting for their life, some saying goodbye to loved ones.
