We will still see that accumulating snow north and west. Especially it poconos mountains going to get snow out of this. Were not talking a lot of ice, but if you see the ground and it looks like its damp, treat it as ice this morning. Thats just enough to make for very slippery travel this morning. All routes have reopened following an earlier crash. Right around route 422 right near that overpass, watch for Police Activity right there. And some taconypalmyra some residual delay because of an opening. Because of the inclement weather pennsylvania employees and in philadelphia can report up to three hours late to work. These folks are trying to secure a spot on the Regional Rail to center city on the Regional Rail tomorrow, buying one of those 10 passes. Others are going to see Ice Accumulations making for a potentially dangerous commute. Eventually its going to change all over to rain, but its going to take much of the morning if not the afternoon for some areas to see that changeup. In between we could be in for some heavy rainfall. This morning the potential for slipping and sliding. And thats ice moving from delaware and south jersey. You can see a bit of snow. Theres really not much snow ahead of the ice, and thats going be a problem for roadways and walkways still below freezing. Were still seeing some pockets of cold air, and theres more of that on the way. Eventually its going to move into philadelphia, too. Delaware county, youre seeing a flew snowflakes right now. Chester is getting some snowflakes, and theyre just getting set to move into philadelphia. Not much longer and well see the snow move in on that camera at the linc. Right now 20s in the Lehigh Valley and suburbs, and jersey is in the 20s. These temperatures nudging up a little bit, but the ground is still frozen. So im quite concerned were going to see icing in delaware, south jersey and eventually noointo the philadelphia area. Look how slowly the temperatures climb. At 10 00, 35 degrees. And philadelphia is out of the woods as we go into the late morning and afternoon hours. But this is when were going to see some heavy rainfall. But not everyone is going to see that quick warm up. So the conditions are really going to depend on where you are. Taking a look at that meteorologist krystal klei standing by. Lets take a look at the live camera outside right now at one of the roadways currently on the dry side but may start to see that change over as some of the icy mix enters. This is camera view from wilmington, delaware of i95. And that is location where we may see some issues. For your morning commute were talking between the hours of 6 00 a. M. And 9 00 a. M. Mostly rain ipsuffix county along the jersey shore. Look at this area of pink, thats where icing is possible. And it does not take much ice at all to make for very slippery roads, primarily snow for upper portions. Those are locations where some accumulation is possible. This is just one model, but doing a nice job of showing that accumulation of ice is not high. But areas like chester county, delco, down into south jersey and especially new castle county, even just a few hundredths of an inch can be slippery for your tires. As for snow potential, likelihood we wasnt see anything other than a brief dusting before the ice turn over along the 95 corridor. Its farther to the north along allentown where we could see 3 to 4 inches. This model going 3 1 2 and over half a foot in mount poconos. These are areas where the snow may lastonger and then icing will occur making for crunchy snow that is easier to drive on. Through 9 00 a. M. , an icy mix. From 10 00 a. M. To noon itll be cloudy. Now lets talk about what youre going to see in your morning commute this morning. Lets check in with meteorologist bill henley. Weve issued a first alert for the area. And tell us why, bill . We are waiting for the atmosphere to warm, and thats going to happen during the day. But this morning cites going to be a problem. Dry right now in philadelphia. I95 not seeing a problem, but we will see some snow and Ice Accumulation this morning. Start as snow and then change over to ice. So were looking at a slippery commute and many school delays, too. And then as the atmosphere warms up, its going to be a rainy afternoon. Weve been watching the temperatures, and in just the last hour a good sign the temperatures have start today creep up. Were seeing 30 s right now, bu unfortunately still cold enough for an icy situation. Its going to take longer for the first wet weather to arrive to north. But its already starting to move into wilmington and reporting some mixed precipitation. Seeing some snow and a little icing. Very low precipitation move tloing through wilmington right now. And thats ice moving through delaware and south jersey. Farther to the south thats rain for the delaware beaches and heading into the shore communities. But that is going to take some time. That warmer air is going to takt of the area. So we could see an extended period of icing this morning into delaware and south jersey and then eventually into philadelphia, too. Because that line will push to the north. While snowfalls to the north and west, ice is destined for us this morning. This is the area meteorologist krystal klei is taking a look at now. Because it doesnt look like a lot of ice at all, it hits right during that morning commute. These are the locations that most likely will primarily see rain, but nonetheless that makes for quite a hassle as you drive out this morning. So take it easy all across our region. Look at our model, though. This is 7 00 a. M. As some of you may be heading out the door to go to work. This is one commuter model. And its showing icing in a bit in Cumberland County and new castle county. And you can see the why. The temperature is marginal. Now, some of other models were looking at are keeping that freezing line a little bit to the south. That potential kind of waddles over this area, which does mean if you dry anywhere through south jersey or delaware you have the risk of running into a slippery spot. 9 00 a. M. We may see a positive in the precip. Meaning the first wave starts move out, but then were going to start warming up. And around lunchtime periods of heavy rain starts out in pockets. And the best chance of heavier rain starts to move around the evening commute as a line will start to develop across the region. And then slice into the whole area by around 6 30 in the evening. Everything starts to move out overnight, so that will allow us to start drying out and really cooling off. So lets talk about the parade Weather Forecast for those of us who will celebrating tomorrow at that super bowl parade. 11 00 a. M. In philadelphia, will be about 31 degrees at the start. Look at the wind chill, though. 19 degrees. So its going to feel much colder than it is. Layers, layers, layers because youll be out for a prolonged period of time.
