Police say a man tried to rob the beer store where he used to work but a worker there foiled his robbery plan. The man and a teenage girl apparent walked into the store on college street around 1 30 this morning. The man showed a gun and forced the owner to open the register. He also ransacked her apartment above the store. While that was happening, a worker pressed the alarm to alert police. Officers arrived just in time to arrest the man and teen as they were trying to leave the store. No one was hurt in that. Now an update to story we brought you as breaking news last night. Police have arrested a man who ran into a West Philadelphia home and got into a standoff with a swat team. Eight people came out of the home during the standoff and told police about the gunman who was inside. Investigators say the man ran into the house after officers chased him after a report with a man with a gun. We have now learned the gunman who killed a deputy u. S. Martial yesterday is from philadelphia. Investigators say sturgis had two active warrants in philadelphia. Early in the morning when a Fugitive Task force showed up to arrest a woman who lived there. They handcuffed the woman and then he opened fire from the second floor, hitting a Police Officer and hitting deputy Police Officer chris hill in the chest killing him. He was seen running down the alley, down the street. One officer was across the street saying officer down, officer down. Investigators say while sturgis started shooting in the house, he went out of the house and continued to shoot at police. Thats when officers killed him.
